Review – Bone Deep by Bonnie Dee

GOODREADS DESCRIPTION:

In the fall of 1946, grieving war widow Sarah goes to the carnival with her friends and is riveted by the tattooed man in the freak show, sporting head to toe body art. Later she discovers him hiding in her hayloft, escaped from virtual imprisonment since childhood by the carnival’s evil owner. She shelters him on her farm, fighting a powerful sexual attraction while learning about his mysterious past and gentle nature. When a local child goes missing, Tom uses his psychic gifts to locate her, but his assistance in the case doesn’t allay the town’s mistrust of such an exotic stranger in their midst. Small-town prejudice tears the lovers apart and a very real threat from carnival owner Art Reed endangers them. Can they rise above obstacles of fear and hate to create the family both have always craved?

MY THOUGHTS:

Okay so this isn’t normally what I would read. It takes place when Truman was president and I like to read for the most part books that take place in the more present time. BUT I did like it! It was very sweet and heart breaking at the same time. It was a quick read and I liked it. I loved the talk. Haha “golly” is not something I usually see in the books that I read on a normal basis. I enjoyed the relationship that was portrayed and how he was so quiet and slowly opened up. At the same time it is the one complaint that I have about the book. It was such a short read that I was left wanting more, to know more about Tom because he didn’t talk much there were a few things that were said by him but not much. I just felt like I didn’t know enough about him. We got to know Sarah and I just wish we could have gotten more Tom. I LOVED the cover of the book and that was one of the draws for me and then I had heard it was a good read. It was but just left me wanting more and not feeling like it was completed I understand that it is a short so a lot of the time you are left wanting more. I liked it and will say it again I wanted more Tom! Haha

About Momma's Books

Found my new love for books when a good friend sent me the Sookie books and I was stuck in a paranormal state and only wanted that then I came across Shayla Black and read her Wicked Lovers Series which got me into the contemporary romance with a "twist" and since then I have just been a reading fanatic! And LOVE every minute of my escape from reality. View all posts by Momma's Books
