Title: Damaged Goods
Author: Lauren Gallagher
Jocelyn Rhodes is a single mother with a demanding career and a long-neglected libido. Frustrated with the dating scene and way overdue for some satisfying sex, she takes a friend’s advice and hires Sabian, a deliciously sexy escort. He’s well worth the money, and the sheets haven’t even cooled off before she’s ready to call him again.
The more time she spends with him, the more she realizes she and Sabian have more in common than she thought. She’s a single mom, he’s a prostitute, and when it comes to dating, they’re both damaged goods. To most potential mates, Jocelyn and Sabian are in a category akin to dented soup cans, but if the two of them can look past each other’s respective dents, they just might find something they’ve both been missing.
But even if they do find that something, how on earth can she make a relationship work with a man who sleeps with other women for a living?
I remember hearing that this was an awesome read and I am glad that I finally got a chance to get to it. It was a good one. I enjoyed the very first book I read that had a male prostitute or “escort” and so this was fun. I always wonder what happens when you get women sleeping with men for money. Women usually connect emotionally when it comes to sex. Men on the other hand can just shut that off and have no connection besides it just being physical. I know that is not 100% true. But for the most part that is the norm.
Now this one I had thought, okay, she would sleep with this guy and keep doing it, but have a relationship that she would try to be in and not be able to give up Sabian. When we get more about him because she decided she wants to actually sit and go out to eat like a date before all the good stuff since she is paying they will do what she wants. You can’t help but kind of feel for him for not ever having any kind of connection to someone without there being judgement on his part.
That rolls over onto her and to be honest, I could understand the desire to be honest about what your man does, but at the same time how do you tell people? I can say that I don’t think I would be able to be with someone knowing they are doing that as a profession. No matter how well the money is. I’m sure it may happen, but I just was blown away. I know that somewhere in this world, there is a story that starts off as when I met my husband, I hired him as an escort and he blew my mind. I never read about a relationship that had started like this, okay one other book that is now a series and I need to get through the other books in it because I only got through the first one. That one for me was more about the sex and kink. This one is more romance believe it or not. There is more than sex. I liked that there was more to this than sex. Don’t get me wrong, sex is always awesome, but there was a connection that I felt and enjoyed reading about.
If you are looking for something that has a different twist on how a man and woman meet this would be a good one! 🙂
