10 synopsis

Chloe hasn’t had the best life. With a mother who is gone more often than not, she has had to raise herself. After graduating high school, she leaves to start a new life away at West Virginia University with her best friends Amber and Logan, determined to leave her demons in the past.

On her first day, she meets a stranger who takes her breath away at first sight. Until she met Drake, no one had ever sparked her interest. Now this tattooed and pierced bad boy is all she can think about, no matter how hard she fights it.

Falling for Drake was never part of her plans, but when it happens, things seem to do anything but fall into place.

Dealing with a tragic past, Drake has never cared about anyone else but himself and his band. But when Chloe takes the empty seat next to him in class, things start to change. Instantly drawn to her, he begins to wonder if one girl can take a cold hearted womanizer and change every part of him?

Long hidden feelings are revealed and friendships tested to the brink.

Review

I wasn’t sure if I was going to like this one for the main reason that most of the new age books that I have read are all pretty much the same. I can’t say THANK YOU enough to K.A. Robinson for NOT making Chloe a virgin!! Not that I have anything against girls who are virgins in college but so many books have the girl loosing it to the bad boy in college. So this was the first thing that I am thankful for!

Second, it is a love triangle! I usually am not a huge fan of them but this one is written so well. I have to say that I never felt like I hated her or the guys. Some books I have read I usually end up hating the girl because she knows she is wrong and she doesn’t care. This one, well things just happen and are not intentional, she isn’t trying to sneak around that is yet another thing I enjoyed. I am tired of reading about these girls who whore around on their boyfriends and don’t care, they try to hide it and meet with the guys to have sex and don’t care who they hurt because all they care about is themselves.

I will have to say that this one pulled me in and I enjoyed it. I knew in my heart who I wanted for her. I knew who was right for her, it just took her a while to figure that out on her own. I kept telling her as I was reading but she wouldn’t listen to me. Who doesn’t love an over protective good guy who just cares so much for the girl I do, okay but not as much as I LOVE me a pierced, tatted up, bad boy rocker!!!! 😉

There is a cliffhanger but the second book is already out so that is not too bad, I don’t have to wait to find out what happens.

If you enjoy an angst filled love triangle mixed with some other issues she has from her life growing up, well this is for you. I wasn’t sure how well the book would come across because there was so much going on in it but it was done well! I would recommend it! Like I said I am usually not a huge fan of love triangles but this one had me. Once I started I couldn’t stop, it took me about 10 hours to finish the book. That’s with stopping to make lunch and dinner and running errands. 🙂 When I find something that sucks me in I will read ANY free time I have!

Title: Captive in the Dark

Author: CJ Roberts

Series: Dark Duet #1

10 synopsis

Caleb is a man with a singular interest in revenge. Kidnapped as a young boy and sold into slavery by a power-hungry mobster, he has thought of nothing but vengeance. For twelve years he has immersed himself in the world of pleasure slaves searching for the one man he holds ultimately responsible. Finally, the architect of his suffering has emerged with a new identity, but not a new nature. If Caleb is to get close enough to strike, he must become the very thing he abhors and kidnap a beautiful girl to train her to be all that he once was.

Eighteen-year-old Olivia Ruiz has just woken up in a strange place. Blindfolded and bound, there is only a calm male voice to welcome her. His name is Caleb, though he demands to be called Master. Olivia is young, beautiful, naïve and willful to a fault. She has a dark sensuality that cannot be hidden or denied, though she tries to accomplish both. Although she is frightened by the strong, sadistic, and arrogant man who holds her prisoner, what keeps Olivia awake in the dark is her unwelcome attraction to him.

WARNING: This book contains very disturbing situations, dubious consent, strong language, and graphic violence.

Review

Okay if you are looking for a good dark read this is deffinantely up that alley.

It took me a little time to actually like Caleb but it isn’t hard to actually like the guy even though he did kidnap Olivia with the intention of training her (well break her down) to be a pleasure slave. There is SOOO much more to the story than that.

A lot of people either love or hate this book and I have to say I really enjoyed it. I was so drawn into it.

There is a brokenness in her that you just hope he will help her fix and same in him, there is something that just needs to be addressed and to some point you get an idea what kind of man he is as you go. You find out quite a bit about him when we get to hear his thoughts. I mean what girl would grow up to be whole, happy and loved when your father tells you:

“Women are dirty whores and full of dirty blood, so every month they have to get rid of it.”

If you have an issue with forced submission this is NOT for you!

I on the otherhand couldn’t put it down I wanted to know what came next.

You can feel the connection that he has with her instantly. He doesn’t know how to deal with that. Before I read this story I saw people saying that they loved him so it was a bit hard to see it at first I really didn’t want to like him but towards the middle and end I can see it.

“Tears had always been mystifying to him. He liked looking at them, tasting them. Truth be told, they made him hard.”

Stockholms syndrome definitely takes a part in this book, but I can understand how that comes to play in the situations and things that happen.

There is quite a bit that happens and MAN; as I was reading it, all I could think was “what the hell goes on in C.J. Roberts mind? I would love to just see in there..” But then as I kept going there were a few times that I had that “yeah no, nevermind!” thought. haha

This isn’t for the weak of heart!

There is a lot that happens and goes on that is NOT okay, but it happens in fiction as well as in reality. I have read another series that has this aspect to it but it was never written from the girls POV who is the captive. We just get to get glimpses of what is going on. This was different, scary, sad, horrible all mixed into one. Yet there was something more to it. You could feel the emotion that lay beneath the surface for both of them.

This is absolutely not for everyone…

But I have to say I look forward to finish up this series I mean if it just gets better… I am on board!

This may not be for everyone but if you want something that leaves you saying WTF did I just read and why did I love it?! This is it!

Blurb:

Book #3 in reading order of events in book series, per author

There are things in bassist Jace Seymour’s past that he is unwilling to share with anyone. To cover his guilt and anguish, he seeks dominatrix Mistress V (Aggie) to temporarily placate his inner turmoil.

Aggie doesn’t have much use for men–besides the power rush she gets when they’re begging for mercy at her feet–but Jace isn’t like her usual clients. His cool defiance and unexpected dominance in the bedroom drives her to distraction and quickly steals her heart.

When circumstances threaten Jace’s position in Sinners, Aggie must help him regain his rightful place in the band while showing him that time and love can heal all wounds.

My Thoughts:

Okay I was waiting for this one! I am reading them in the order that Olivia wrote them in not the order that they were released so I had to wait a little longer then some to get a sinners fix, with that being said I say SHAME on you SOURCEBOOKS Casablanca publishing for printing the books out of order. I have heard that for some, because of that it ruined the reading for them since they get teasers in Trey’s book (since his is supposed to be last in the series) It has nothing to do with Olivia since she also was not happy with the order of release. Anywho… back to the matter at hand.

But I was not disappointed I did finally feel like I got why Jace was so closed off. And ohhh my the sex was pretty damn hot! I honestly had thought that I would have been more attached to Jace in this story and yes I did get pulled into him and was left feeling happy with the outcome. Maybe it was Aggie I wasn’t really feeling. I wasn’t a big fan of hers from the get go. But we all knew that was who was going to be it for him. Though she could be pretty bad ass so that was a plus.
There were things that happened in this one that had me kinda all over the place my heart broke for Jace and I just wanted to hold him, then slap him for closing up because he was such a tease with letting a little out then closing off again. (Such a man)

There were a few things that were brought up like the issue with Eric and Jon that one I know I will have to wait for the next book to find out what the deal is with them.
We find out that there is a secret that Jace is keeping from a bandmate that was a surprise.
There were as always funny moments that had me laughing so hard

“Your balls are touching mine,” Jace said between clenched teeth.

“What’s a little sac connection between friends?”

“If you come on me, I will kill you,”

How could you not die laughing at that alone? I mean I had always wondered if they ever thought things like that and when finally reading that in a book I was laughing hysterically.

I did enjoy this one but I have a HUGE love for bdsm books and although she did a good job in writing it, I understood why he would not submit. But a TRUE Domme would not submit, unless she is a switch, right? That was one part that had me a little confused. I do understand that there are times it does get turned on and off so that was not unbelievable. It was just a tad hard to understand how they got so close so fast when they never really talked much, but then when you grow up broken and in dysfunction it works out I guess. Because well in reality it can sometimes.

Olivia did a great job not leaving you wondering what Aggies issues were too she was able to work in a little back story for her as well so that was good I thought at first okay so am I going to be left wondering why she is the way she is but nope!
The pieces of Eric that were in there I loved I had a feeling that I would be drawn to him no matter how much I wanted it to be Jace for me. Eric and Trey are my favorites. My heart breaks for both of them in this one. Knowing how much Trey loves Brian but can’t have him. And then hearing Eric talking with Jace outside the tour bus.
She finds a way to write so these guys worm their way into your heart and stay there forever!

I am looking forward to Eric’s story then I can right on to Trey

As far as I am concerned ANYTHING Sinners I will read because they were the first Rock Star books I read and will always be special, for starting me on a love for Rockers I never knew I had!

Review – The Perfect Game by J. Sterling

Blurb:

He’s a game she never intended to play.
And she’s the game changer he never knew he needed.

The Perfect Game tells the story of college juniors, Cassie Andrews & Jack Carter. When Cassie meets rising baseball hopeful Jack, she is determined to steer clear of him and his typical cocky attitude. But Jack has other things on his mind… like getting Cassie to give him the time of day.
They’re both damaged, filled with mistrust and guarded before they find one another (and themselves) in this emotional journey about love and forgiveness. Strap yourselves for a ride that will not only break your heart, but put it back together.
Sometimes life gets ugly before it gets beautiful…

My Thoughts:

I had read that this one was a good and sweet story and I have to say that I do agree! I fell absolutely in love with Jack Carter the minute he was introduced. I have always have a soft spot for egotistical, thinks highly of themselves bad boys! I mean who doesn’t?!

I enjoyed this one more than I thought because I wasn’t sure when I had started it if I was in the mood for a more tame book (compared to some of the books I have been reading) but it was a nice fun read. As I was reading I enjoyed it so much I was starting to wonder if this was going to be all good or if there was going to be a twist somewhere and just when I thought okay this is going to all be a happy fun book BAM.

There were times I was laughing because well lets face it they made me laugh when they were together a lot of the time. But they drove me crazy sometimes when they were together they were so worried about getting hurt they were afraid to open up to each other it is best explained:

“You’re both so screwed up alone that together you’re like the perfect mess.”

But I think for me (as well as others out there) there was a connection from being hurt in the past that you know exactly what it is like to want to put up that wall and not let anyone over because you just don’t ever want to be hurt again. So when reading some parts I just couldn’t help but want to yell out “AMEN” but then had to remember I am reading a book not at church. 🙂

“There will come a time in your life when you lose something that matters to you. You’ll fight for it and you won’t win. But what really matters isn’t the war you’re waging, it’s that you don’t lose the person you are in the midst of the battle.”

There are so many parts of this book that I could totally relate to and I enjoyed it for that. Reading a book that you can connect to on a personal level is always good and because of that it will always stick with me. I do also enjoy the jerky Jack Carter! He would have to be on my top of book boyfriends because of that! 🙂
So for anyone who wants a good read that does have angst in it but will drive up nuts because you want to scream WTF is wrong with you???? COME ON!!! Get with it FOOL!!! All those came from my mouth while reading .
