Review ~ Never Never by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Title: Never Never

Author: Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Series: Never Never #1

10 synopsis

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

So I had heard over and over that this one will leave you upset and on this huge emotional cliffhanger. I will say that I was drawn into it and wanted to know what was going on. I wanted to figure out why both Charlie and Silas are both without any memory of anything in their past. Why is it just the two of them? Why did it happen? What is going on?

That being said I did enjoy the book. I love everything by Colleen Hoover. I can say it is pretty easy to tell that two different people wrote the book, but I think that adds to it. You can tell one person is writing for Silas and one is writing for Charlie. It makes it feel more real I think. I definitely didn’t care much for Charlie and when I found out that Colleen wrote Silas’ part I laughed because I could tell that it was her writing style. Tarryn is a little more closed off and likes to be more secretive in her writing and you can feel it in the reading of Charlies side. Over all I liked that two people wrote.

Now…I am all about cliffhangers when there is going to be another book soon, and this one is not too far out. So when it came to the cliffhanger that everyone was talking about it wasn’t that bad really. It was more interesting I thought. It didn’t leave me screaming WHAT THE HELL. So I take that for something, BUT I knew it was coming so that might be part of the reason.

I am not 100% sure as to why they decided to pull this book from preorder and make it a series on amazon it says it is about 140 pages (158 paperback). That is a short story, not a novel. I feel like they could have just made it a novel and many would have been much happier. I am not a fan of short books in a series. So that is what I was not a big fan of. It should be advertised as a short story “series”.

I have an idea of who knows what’s going on, the fact that when I saw a post on fb about who the authors pictured as the characters there was one person on there that we only saw twice in the book. Why would they need an image for a person who was not prominent in the book? Because there is more to her and she knows more…I am just sure of it, because there were people that were in the book more often and they didn’t pick people they would cast for them. (hmm……)

So all I can do now is move on and find something else to read, I will come back to this storyline when the next book comes out. I just hope that it isn’t going to be drug out into like 3 or 4 books. As much as I absolutely LOVE Colleen Hoover I am not a fan of having to wait months to read a short story to be left wondering okay now what the hell is supposed to happen? lol

BUT that is what you can do when you are Colleen Hoover. 😉 keep people on pins and needles. Draw them in and just give out a little at a time. That is called torture. In the mean time I will be waiting for her next book to come out (Confess). Since that is not far away.

Overall this is a good read, it is witty, and suspenseful because you are wondering what the heck is happening and why. It is two high school kids that are left wondering who they are and why they can’t remember anything. If you want something that is short and leaves you wondering (while you wait for the next one to come out) this is a must read.

10 synopsis

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer…preferably in bed. That’s always been Kingsley Edge’s strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it’s Kingsley’s chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he’s ever wanted — Søren, Nora’s on-again, off-again lover — until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora’s tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can’t forget. He’s young. He’s wonderful. He’s also thoroughbred royalty and she’s in “his” world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley’s world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren’s relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make… unless someone makes it for her.

Okay I was super excited when she went to go and stay with Wes. I have to say that yes I was surprised that Soren just let her go. But that man always has an ulterior motive. There is a reason for everything he does. That is something that you find out in book one. He isn’t there in book 1 a lot but enough to know that he is a very powerful man who usually has the last say in things.

I was so happy at the beginning and so happy to see how things turn out with Nora and Wes. I wanted to believe that things would be good I wanted to believe that she could go vanilla. As we get to watch and see how that whole relationship works out there is more going on at home with Soren and King. There is stuff going on that they need to work out, they need to find out who is doing things that are not okay with them. I will say I was at a loss and couldn’t put it all together. I am not always one of those people who can guess what will happen in a book, so it made reading this one that much more interesting.

Just when I think I have something figured out, I find out I was wrong. I didn’t have it right. But with this series I have come to learn that you just can’t do that. I never know what will come up. You may have part of something figured out but then you will find out something else that will just throw you completely. I know I was.

I just know that once again I am happy I waited. I am able to jump right into the next book thanks to Netgalley.

I was left wondering what the hell? I had an idea that what does happen, was going to happen but at the same time I honestly didn’t see it coming completely.

We also get to see a sweeter side to Nora. It is always there but we get to see it a little more. In book 1 we see it and then again in this one. Wes just brings that out in her. The smart mouth girl is still there and we get to see her come out when need be. And it is more often than you think. I am not saying that she all of a sudden puts on a sun dress and pearls and has a southern drawl but she is just softer when it comes to Wes.

We also get more info on Soren and King. And have to say it is all starting to make more sense now. I get why King is who he is. I can’t wait to get more.

But that ending….

Oh sweet cliffhanger!!

10 synopsis

No safe word can protect the heart

Infamous erotica author and accomplished dominatrix Nora Sutherlin is doing something utterly out of character: hiding. While her longtime lover, Søren—whose fetishes, if exposed, would be his ruin—is under scrutiny pending a major promotion, Nora’s lying low and away from temptation in the lap of luxury.

Her host, the wealthy and uninhibited Griffin Fiske, is thrilled to have Nora stay at his country estate, especially once he meets her traveling companion. Young, inexperienced and angelically beautiful, Michael has become Nora’s protégé, and this summer with Griffin is going to be his training, where the hazing never ends.

But while her flesh is willing, Nora’s mind is wandering. To thoughts of Søren, her master, under investigation by a journalist with an ax to grind. And to another man from Nora’s past, whose hold on her is less bruising, but whose secrets are no less painful. It’s a summer that will prove the old adage: love hurts.

We get more of Griffin in this one. OH how I love me some Griffin! We also get more of Michael. I had wondered if we were going to get more Michael after meeting him in The Siren.

In this one Nora has to go and lay low because there is something going on and Soren doesn’t want his secrets to come out so he sends her and Michael to go and stay with Griffin.

He sends Michael along with her because he wants her to take care of him as well as train him while they are away. Soren thinks that it is time for him to learn.

There is a lot going on with poor Michael and he isn’t sure how exactly to handle it all but Nora helps him to understand that he is not alone in how he feels. She helps him to understand that he is not the only person who feels the way he does or needs what he needs.

Griffin is one of the funniest guys and hot (well in my mind he sure is!)

There is a lot going on with Soren, things are being put into question about him. SO, with that, we get to learn more about him; AND let me just say WOW, was NOT expecting what we learn about him!! That was just…well I don’t know what I was expecting but not that.

Then that ending!! That is another thing I wasn’t expecting…boy am I happy that I waited to read because I can jump right into the next one. I would hate to have had to wait to find out what happens.
Oh cliffhangers how I have a love/hate relationship with you!!!!

FYI…there is blood play in this one…may not be for everyone. It isn’t a lot but it is still there. For me though. It makes the story that much better! It just fits in well to who the person is who does it.

“Fetishes…they’re the pet you feed or the beat that eats you.”

“…going on about the abomination of sodomy. Nora had patted the woman on the back and said, “If it’s an abomination, it’s because you’re doing it wrong. Bear down hard, then relax. It’ll fit better.”

you just clenched your ass tighter than the second pair of Spanx on a drag queen.”

“You know St. Andrew?”…”According to legend he requested that he die on an X-shaped cross instead of T-shaped as he did not feel worthy to die like his savior. And he was bound not nailed.”

“Cops?”…”Oh yeah. The bigger and tougher they pretend to be, the more likely they are to want a woman to call them a slut and put her foot on the back of their neck.”

“Flirting’s for people who don’t mean it…I seduce.”

“Ink doesn’t get into your skin. It gets into your soul. Changes you.”

“We value the most what we must sacrifice to have.”

I enjoyed it from the get go! I think in reality it would be awesome to have some rich guy come and invite me to play this little game with them haha.

Okay let me start off by saying I am getting really tired of EVERY  BDSM book being compared to fifty shades! Fifty shades is NOT BDSM, yes there is kink but a Dom he was not! SO please can everyone STOP holding fifty shades up to this high standard that it really shouldn’t be held to. This book was good on its own merit! I did not once think of fifty when reading it, it wasn’t until I was getting ready to mark it down as read on goodreads did I see the fifty references. There really isn’t any ‘Master’ or ‘Sir’ stuff going on. He just likes to be in control. The only way one can make comparisons would be the millionaire man with a naive girl. So if that is what you are looking for this has that!

There is so much to this story.

He is very secretive about who he is. There is a dark edginess to him that drew me in immediately but at the same time he is very confident in who he is as a man. That in itself is attractive.  I have to say that some of the things he had her do were beyond hot! I couldn’t put this one down I wanted to know what was next. I wanted to know what he was going to have her do next. She is new to all this and has come to realize that she has been missing out on and wants more.

You get to go on this fun little journey where she gets a taste of domination, and finds out that she enjoys it more than she probably should.

“Every girl dreams she’ll be the one who catches his eye, who catches his heart.

Do any of them dream of being the one who’s caught?”

I have always been a huge fan of BDSM books because of the power exchange the dominant having it, the submissive giving up control. It always has been my favorite genre of books.  For the most part it probably is because of moments like this…

“…when I’m with him, all the attention is on me. It’s all about my needs, my desires. I’m the one who gets off. He said I’m going to have to earn the privilege of his cock.”

Who wouldn’t want to read this??

I am looking forward to the next one! And the ending…yeah there were a few twists that were thrown in there for good measure and well had me completely at a loss. I wasn’t sure exactly what happened or why, but will find out hopefully in the next book.

The title of the book holds true. If you are expecting this to go fast and get right to the sex between the two of them then you will not enjoy this one. It takes time for him to get her where he wants her oh the build up and anticipation!

To end it all…This is a girl who does things with a stranger, a man she doesn’t even know his name. So if something like that would drive you nuts than this might not be for you. That and there IS a cliffhanger at the end of this one. I know some do not enjoy them but I do from time to time.

Review ~ Shadows of Pearl by Arianne Richmonde

Book: Shadows of Pearl

Author: Arianne Richmonde

Series:  Th Pearl Trilogy #2

This is BOOK TWO of The Pearl Trilogy. It is not stand-alone. If you have not read Forty Shades of Pearl (Part 1) you really need to do that first to get the maximum out of this book’s plot and character development for the best reading experience possible.

Pearl Robinson feels like the luckiest woman in the world. In just a couple of months she is to be married to the man she’s head over heels in love with: the wonderful and charismatic Alexandre Chevalier, fifteen years her junior and founder of the billion dollar social media sensation, HookedUp.

She is planning a white winter wedding in Lapland – the stuff that dreams are made of. Everything is perfect, not least her haute couture wedding gown designed especially for her.

But Pearl is convinced that Alexandre’s sister and business partner, Sophie Dumas, has other, darker ideas.

And the shadows of Pearl’s past come back to haunt her in ways she could never have imagined…

The first one was good and I did enjoy it so being able to jump right to the second one I was happy, I had heard that there is a huge cliffhanger and I am happy that I was able to read it so close to the release of the last book in the trilogy.

This one was full of so much stuff and I have to say that as far as I am concerned when reading trilogies I have always LOVED the second books the best! This is no exception to the rule! I loved this one the funny names for her ‘girly’ parts were not used as much so I didn’t stop and giggle at the names she chose to use instead. Let me just say that HOLY HOTNESS! There were a few scenes okay more then a few that had me not able to put the book down. There is so much that goes on in this book that brings so many questions to rise there were a few things that I did see coming and left me wondering where some things were going.

I have come to love the obsession that he has for her. I mean in reality it would be a little creepy but in the fiction world it could only be flattering right? haha I mean to have a man so in love with you that he will do any and everything for you pretty much. Okay and I can honestly say that in this book I totally forgot that Pearl is 40 I thought that by the way she was acting she was in her 20’s I mean really where was all the wisdom she seemed to have in the first book. BUT let me just say that it did make for a FREAKING awesome story filled with so much drama, ohhh how I LOVED the drama. It was a big page turner for me and when things got real crazy oh how I got sucked in.

My heart broke at one point I wanted to yell at him NOOO you have to listen! You are just not getting it fool! I was so on Pearls side. Then I got to that ending and OMG all I could say was that did NOT just happen WTF… OH HELL NO!!! yeah they all came out.. I was at a loss. Ohhh and wanted to kill people!

~Favorite Quotes~

“My father once gave me a great piece of advice. He said, ‘Pearl, whatever happens, whatever you do, even if you end up with someone wealthy you always need to have your own ‘fuck-you’ money-money that’s just yours that you can do what you like with. women need to have their own fuck-you money at all times. you never know when you’ll need to catch a plane or treat yourself to something special.”

“Guilt is powerful.”

“the Devil makes work for idle hands, doesn’t he?”
