Review ~ Confess by Colleen Hoover

Title: Confess

Author: Colleen Hoover (awesomest author!)

10 synopsis

Auburn Reed has her entire life mapped out. Her goals are in sight and there’s no room for mistakes. But when she walks into a Dallas art studio in search of a job, she doesn’t expect to find a deep attraction to the enigmatic artist who works there, Owen Gentry.

For once, Auburn takes a risk and puts her heart in control, only to discover Owen is keeping major secrets from coming out. The magnitude of his past threatens to destroy everything important to Auburn, and the only way to get her life back on track is to cut Owen out of it.

The last thing Owen wants is to lose Auburn, but he can’t seem to convince her that truth is sometimes as subjective as art. All he would have to do to save their relationship is confess. But in this case, the confession could be much more destructive than the actual sin…

What to say???
She did it again. I have yet to be disappointed in ANY book she has written. I absolutely LOVE that all of her books are so different. She added music to one, and this one she added art. Which was BEAUTIFUL!

I am a HUGE postsecret.com fan so for me this was a book that had that type of twist to it. I kind of wish there were more secrets confessions maybe added at the end by the people that sent them to her. Her own version of postsecret. 🙂

I love the way that Owen make them into art. I truly wish that was something that was available. It would be amazing to be able to purchase a piece of art that was inspired by an anonymous confession.

My daughter has been on this Dr. Seuss kick after they celebrated his birthday at school and when she brought home one of his books (I will admit I haven’t read it before) and I read it to her ALL I could think of was that he wrote this for her. Oh the thinks she can think….I wish I could be in her head and see some of these storylines she has going on in there. She has a true talent. I remember when she had only Slammed and Point of Retreat out. I love those also. When anyone ever asks me for books as a recommendation Colleen Hoover is always an author I recommend.

I patiently wait for the next book to be published by her. I know I will love it as I do all the others. I teared up a little with this one. It was touching and just beautifully written. I wish she had a book out every 3 months!

Review ~ Never Never by Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Title: Never Never

Author: Colleen Hoover & Tarryn Fisher

Series: Never Never #1

10 synopsis

Best friends since they could walk. In love since the age of fourteen.
Complete strangers since this morning.
He’ll do anything to remember. She’ll do anything to forget.

So I had heard over and over that this one will leave you upset and on this huge emotional cliffhanger. I will say that I was drawn into it and wanted to know what was going on. I wanted to figure out why both Charlie and Silas are both without any memory of anything in their past. Why is it just the two of them? Why did it happen? What is going on?

That being said I did enjoy the book. I love everything by Colleen Hoover. I can say it is pretty easy to tell that two different people wrote the book, but I think that adds to it. You can tell one person is writing for Silas and one is writing for Charlie. It makes it feel more real I think. I definitely didn’t care much for Charlie and when I found out that Colleen wrote Silas’ part I laughed because I could tell that it was her writing style. Tarryn is a little more closed off and likes to be more secretive in her writing and you can feel it in the reading of Charlies side. Over all I liked that two people wrote.

Now…I am all about cliffhangers when there is going to be another book soon, and this one is not too far out. So when it came to the cliffhanger that everyone was talking about it wasn’t that bad really. It was more interesting I thought. It didn’t leave me screaming WHAT THE HELL. So I take that for something, BUT I knew it was coming so that might be part of the reason.

I am not 100% sure as to why they decided to pull this book from preorder and make it a series on amazon it says it is about 140 pages (158 paperback). That is a short story, not a novel. I feel like they could have just made it a novel and many would have been much happier. I am not a fan of short books in a series. So that is what I was not a big fan of. It should be advertised as a short story “series”.

I have an idea of who knows what’s going on, the fact that when I saw a post on fb about who the authors pictured as the characters there was one person on there that we only saw twice in the book. Why would they need an image for a person who was not prominent in the book? Because there is more to her and she knows more…I am just sure of it, because there were people that were in the book more often and they didn’t pick people they would cast for them. (hmm……)

So all I can do now is move on and find something else to read, I will come back to this storyline when the next book comes out. I just hope that it isn’t going to be drug out into like 3 or 4 books. As much as I absolutely LOVE Colleen Hoover I am not a fan of having to wait months to read a short story to be left wondering okay now what the hell is supposed to happen? lol

BUT that is what you can do when you are Colleen Hoover. 😉 keep people on pins and needles. Draw them in and just give out a little at a time. That is called torture. In the mean time I will be waiting for her next book to come out (Confess). Since that is not far away.

Overall this is a good read, it is witty, and suspenseful because you are wondering what the heck is happening and why. It is two high school kids that are left wondering who they are and why they can’t remember anything. If you want something that is short and leaves you wondering (while you wait for the next one to come out) this is a must read.

Review ~ Maybe Someday by Colleen Hoover

Title: Maybe Someday

Author: Colleen Hoover

10 synopsis

At twenty-two years old, aspiring musician Sydney Blake has a great life: She’s in college, working a steady job, in love with her wonderful boyfriend, Hunter, and rooming with her good friend, Tori. But everything changes when she discovers Hunter cheating on her with Tori—and she is left trying to decide what to do next.

Sydney becomes captivated by her mysterious neighbor, Ridge Lawson. She can’t take her eyes off him or stop listening to the daily guitar playing he does out on his balcony. She can feel the harmony and vibrations in his music. And there’s something about Sydney that Ridge can’t ignore, either: He seems to have finally found his muse. When their inevitable encounter happens, they soon find themselves needing each other in more ways than one…

I can honestly say that I am not sure that Colleen Hoover is capable of writing a bad book. I loved this one just like all the other books she has put out. I wasn’t sure what it was going to be like because I jumped right into reading it without even bothering with reading the blurb because I knew that if she wrote it I would love it and I did.

I absolutely fell in love with Ridge. Nothing about him that I didn’t love. He was completely perfect, okay, well except for that one thing that he did that shouldn’t have done *tsk tsk*. There were a few moments that got pretty steamy there and man if I had never wanted things to go one way when I knew they shouldn’t have it were those moments. Now if you are not a fan of love triangles this may not be one for you. I know some people will not read books that have that aspect to them because no matter who writes it they do not enjoy them. Now that being said I go back and forth on those types. I have had some that I absolutely despised and some that I just couldn’t put down.

Can you love two people at once? Yes, I do believe that it is possible. Many may find Ridge the bad guy and just want to hate him from the start, but I just couldn’t do that. There is so much that happens, Syd finds out her boyfriend is cheating on her and she leaves but has nowhere to go. Ridge offers up a place for her to stay with him and his roommates, since they are looking for an extra roommate. There is so much that goes on between everyone and I have to say I love the joking around.

It’s hard for me to pinpoint just what it was about this book that just pulled me in.  There is a connection between everyone (minus Bridgette she was my least fave in the book). We didn’t get much about Bridgette but that was fine with me. I didn’t feel much of a connection to her anyway. But I have known a few girls like her, maybe that’s why I was ehh about her.

Okay I don’t want to give away too much I hate giving spoilers and I feel that telling that it is a love triangle was one spoiler, but I also think that many who go in and have always hated love triangles they will be disappointed if they purchase this and find out as they read. But there are things that go on in this book that I NEVER would have thought of as far as details on how Ridge sees things. I never thought of things from that aspect before in my life and it made me second guess things. Made me want someone to show me the things he showed Syd.

There is something about the connection and I know I keep repeating that, but there is a reason for it. There is something that got to me more than anything. What he told her about her writing.

“These words came from somewhere inside you, Sydney. You can tell yourself you were better off with him, but read…”

That touched something in me in a way I cannot even express in a way that some may understand.

“You say you feel lost without him, but you felt lost even when you were with him…”

It almost was like she got into my heart and was able to express exactly how I have felt before. It brought back many memories and maybe that is why I had such an amazing connection to this story. There for me was more of a connection than some may have had.

Review ~ Losing Hope by Colleen Hoover

Title: Loing Hope

Author: Colleen Hoover

Series: Hopeless #2

10 synopsis

In Hopeless, Sky left no secret unearthed, no feeling unshared, and no memory forgotten, but Holder’s past remained a mystery.

Still haunted by the little girl he let walk away, Holder has spent his entire life searching for her in an attempt to finally rid himself of the crushing guilt he has felt for years. But he could not have anticipated that the moment they reconnect, even greater remorse would overwhelm him…

Sometimes in life, if we wish to move forward, we must first dig deep into our past and make amends. In Losing Hope, bestselling author Colleen Hoover reveals what was going on inside Holder’s head during all those hopeless moments—and whether he can gain the peace he desperately needs.

This one I was looking forward to because I really wanted Holders POV. Have to say I enjoyed it and even ended up tearing up there towards the end.

It started out like a totally separate novel I was very excited to learn all about Holder before he met Sky.
After that it was a lot like re-reading Hopeless there were a few things like the notebook that were fun to see.

I absolutely love Colleen Hoover’s writing. She wrote his point of view and yes there were moments that I did feel like I was re-reading the first book BUT the entire book did not have that feel to it overall.
There were things we never knew about because Hopeless isn’t in his perspective.
If you loved Holder in Hopeless you will absolutely fall even more for him in this one. I love the banter between him and Sky and when we get to know Daniel well got to say I love that guy he is hilarious!!

We don’t really get to know Daniel in Hopeless and I have to say that I kind of wish we would have. I wanted more of him! He was just so much fun!

It is to be expected, that when an author re-does a book in another point of view it will be a repeat of the first book. I mean we are getting the same story for the most part. But Colleen starts and finishes it in a way that you don’t feel as if you are reading Hopeless again.

Not a lot of authors can do that, and to be honest I have not read many books that do this. She is the second author that I have read the same story twice in different points of view. Have to say she does a great job of not making it feel repetitious.

You get to go into Holders head and learn how he thinks and feels and sees things. It is kind of eye-opening how he deals with the whole Hope issue. There was something that I didn’t see coming and it kind of broke my heart a little. Okay well I kind of did see it coming but at the same time didn’t. Yes I know…how can I see it and not see it? Well you will know what I mean when you read it!

Holder and Sky have just been through so much and they are only 18 & 17. You don’t want to believe things like this happen but they do. All you want is for them to just find a small bit of happiness. Okay more him than anything at first then when we learn more about the Hope situation your heart breaks all over again. Seeing it through his eyes.

I am usually not a big fan of a book being redone in an alternate POV but Colleen does it so well it has started to make me question why I ever questioned it to begin with.

Review ~ This Girl by Colleen Hoover

Title: This Girl

Author: Colleen Hoover

Series:  Slammed #3

10 synopsis

Layken and Will’s love has managed to withstand the toughest of circumstances and the young lovers, now married, are beginning to feel safe and secure in their union. As much as Layken relishes their new life together, she finds herself wanting to know everything there is to know about her husband, even though Will makes it clear he prefers to keep the painful memories of the past where they belong. Still, he can’t resist his wife’s pleas and so he begins to untangle his side of the story, revealing for the first time his most intimate feelings and thoughts, retelling both the good and bad moments, and sharing a few shocking confessions of his own from the time when they first met.

In This Girl, Will tells the story of their complicated relationship from his point of view. Their future rests on how well they deal with the past in this final installment of the beloved Slammed series.

ReviewI was looking forward to this one but to tell you the truth after reading Walking Disaster and feeling a tad bit disappointed I wasn’t sure how I was going to like this one. I was terrified it was going to be the same as the first book just with a few differences in the thoughts since the story is pretty much the same. Right? Well for me no that wasn’t how it was.

Have to say…Mrs. Hoover did an AWESOME job and I LOVED everything about this book. Yes there were a few parts that were in the first book and well I was expecting that. What I wasn’t expecting was it to feel like a complete book all on its own. I thought it would just feel like a re-write of the first but not at all!

You get the present time, mixed in with remembering how things were in the past. Since we got to see it from her POV in the first book this time it is some parts that are just all his thoughts and how he dealt with things. I didn’t once feel as though I was re-reading the same book. I can’t even explain how happy that made me. I loved that it was set as them being together on their ‘honeymoon’ talking about the past; with her asking him about what he thought or how he felt when he first saw her, or other little moments. I absolutely loved it.

There is nothing that I didn’t like about this book and I have to say that it was a GREAT ending to the series! I was left feeling that it is complete. There are some books that leave you unfulfilled this was not one for me.

I could quote so much from this book, so much of it I loved. Getting to see and feel how much love is between the two of them is just refreshing. There is so much hurt they have both had to live through, they are just perfect for each other and I loved them from the get go. I absolutely love Colleen’s writing, I have read all her books and she is one of those writers that suck you into the book and feel as though you are right there watching everything that is going on right in front of you. There is so much emotion that is put into the series. You couldn’t read it and not feel it. I laughed, cried, and hurt right along with the characters as I read; along with feeling joy and happiness. Not many can pull a reader in the way she has and she does it so effortlessly. I am looking forward to every book she ever puts out. If they are anything like the work she has done so far. I am sure I will love them all.

I am sure there will be some people who will not like reading a book they feel is already told, they may feel as though they are re-reading it. To this I have to say I disagree. I didn’t feel as though it was exactly the same as the first. There was enough of the present time mixed in with the past.

I am sad it is over but have to say I enjoyed the emotional ride she took me on. If you have not read the series I cannot express to you how much I loved these. They are such a great read. Anyone who has read a book written by Mrs. Hoover knows how talented she is, so I don’t need to continue on that route. 🙂

I got so attached to these books for the simple fact that they made me fall in love with this genre of books. I am a lover of all books but my preferences were PNR as well as Erotica/BDSM and when I got a suggestion to read this series, I figured why not, I could use a change. I was worried that it might be too young for me because I enjoy ‘sex’ within my reads (the steamier the better). So when I started this and instantly fell in love with the writing and the characters I knew she was something special (I am sure she knows this already though).  This is when I decided to reach out and read outside my norm. She helped to open my eyes to a whole new genre of books, and for that I thank her! I absolutely fell in love with this series

“I dreamt about this girl last night.
Wow. This girl.
This girl completely shatters the window to my soul and crawls inside.”

“There are so many people in this world that can be right for each other. If there weren’t, then cheating would never be an issue. Everyone would find their one true love and life would be great – relationships would be a piece of cake…”

“The only thing that can break the unbreakable is the unthinkable.”

“You, baby girl. You’re my final piece.”

Sometimes discovering the truth can leave you more hopeless than believing the lies…

That’s what seventeen-year-old Sky realizes after she meets Dean Holder. A guy with a reputation that rivals her own and an uncanny ability to invoke feelings in her she’s never had before. He terrifies her and captivates her all in the span of just one encounter, and something about the way he makes her feel sparks buried memories from a past that she wishes could just stay buried.

Sky struggles to keep him at a distance knowing he’s nothing but trouble, but Holder insists on learning everything about her. After finally caving to his unwavering pursuit, Sky soon finds that Holder isn’t at all who he’s been claiming to be. When the secrets he’s been keeping are finally revealed, every single facet of Sky’s life will change forever.

My Thoughts:

OOOOMMMMMGGGGGG!!! This is one of the BEST books I have read! I absolutely LOVE everything about this one! There were so many things that had me on edge waiting and wanting more more more I couldn’t put it down.

I absolutely love Colleen’s writing! I have read all 3 books she has written so far and each one seems to get better!

This was a roller-coaster of a ride and I loved every minute of it. You will not see things coming and that is what I love the most about it. When I got to some points in this one I was just dumbfounded because I NEVER saw it coming! I absolutely LOVE when a book can throw me like that. I yelled out when I got to one point “Things JUST got INTERESTING” and my husband laughed at me and shook his head. He knows it is a good book when I start talking to myself as I read.

There is no question in my mind that I will purchase every book that Mrs. Hoover writes for the simple fact that I have YET to be disappointed and I highly doubt that I ever will.

I will never see star-gazing the same!

This book is all around a great book! You will laugh, cry, hurt, get ANGRY, and just feel just about every emotion that you can think. This will NOT disappoint! You will be confused up to a point then all will reveal itself and as soon as that happens you can forget everyday life around you because you will not be able to put it down.

It absolutely is not an easy read and may not be suitable for everyone due to some of the subject matter. I do not believe that it is for young teenagers because of the twist and turns that do occur in the book. Yes the characters are teenagers and in high school and it is a romance. There are times that I did forget that they are just teenagers but I believe  it might be a little intense for the young ones.

5 stars

For those who have read the book Colleen Hoover did a little somethin extra because the book did great when it came out she put together a bonus scene as a thank you to everyone.

The author wrote a scene from Holder’s point of view as a thank you to the readers for their amazing response to Hopeless.
