~Blurb~

How much is too much to love?

Travis Maddox learned two things from his mother before she died: Love hard. Fight harder.

In Walking Disaster, the life of Travis is full of fast women, underground gambling, and violence. Just when he thought he was invincible, Abby Abernathy brings him to his knees.

Every story has two sides. In Jamie McGuire’s New York Times bestseller Beautiful Disaster Abby had her say. Now it’s time to see the story through Travis’s eyes.

~Our Thoughts~

It seems like I have been waiting FOREVER for the release of this book, and was beyond excited to get to read an advanced copy!! I fell in love with Travis in Beautiful Disaster and was looking forward to hearing more from his point of view.

First off, this isn’t a sequel to Beautiful Disaster, but basically the same story told in Travis’s point of view. So if you haven’t read Beautiful Disaster, then get to it!

“I decided a long time ago I would feed on vultures until a dove came along. A pigeon. The kind of soul that didn’t impede on anyone; just walked around worrying about its own business, trying to get through life without pulling everyone else down with its own needs and selfish habits. Brave. A communicator. Intelligent, Beautiful. Soft-spoken. A creature that mates for life. Unattainable until she has a resin to trust you.”

I loved this quote because we finally see why Travis nicknamed Abby Pigeon. I never really understood where he got that one. It was great to get a look inside the head of a guy and why they think and do the things they do, but to also see that they have a lot of the same fears and wants and needs as women do. They just express them totally differently!

Overall I was happy to get to read this and get another dose of Travis and Abby, but also slightly disappointed because I didn’t get a lot more from it. I was hoping for a lot more about his family or his childhood and more insight into him and why he does what he does. There were quite a few scenes and parts from the last book that I felt were either skipped or just quickly brushed over. And on the other side of that, I don’t feel like I was given a lot more to compensate for that loss either, like new parts to their story or anything. I guess I came away feeling I didn’t learn enough about him but still loved him as I did in the first book.

Of course there was a great Epilogue that had me so excited and hopeful for future books on these two characters!

So overall, I liked the book because it was basically the original story that I fell in love with in Beautiful Disaster with more Travis, but wish I was given a bit more to their story.  I NEED MORE! 🙂 For those of us that love Travis, it’s definitely worth the read to get our “fix”.

This is the ever anticipated sequel…I know I was excited to get this one I literally yelled YES!!! when I got approved to read it!  I couldn’t wait to start it so as soon as I did I had to make sure that all was taken care of in my house. We took a road trip the next day so being in a car for 6 hours I was able to just read!

To start off I had already read the prologue when she had posted it on her blog a while back, and it made me cry. I am sure that it made EVERYONE tear up for sure.

Once I got into the story I have to say that I love seeing it from his point of view that is for sure. I loved a lot about this story. Things that I had wondered while reading Beautiful Disaster. Now, that being said I did have moments of disappointment when reading. Some of my favorite parts were not included and that was sad for me. I was looking forward to the bar scene when the guys kept pulling the other guys from dancing with the girls and when that didn’t even show up I kind of got upset. BUT that does not take away from the over all story. There are quite a few moments that were not in this one that were in the first book, I did feel as if a lot of the story is just rushed over and I was kind of looking forward to the “I can’t get no satisfaction” part to know what he was thinking when he did it, that also did not come. I know it has to be difficult to do a whole book over in another point of view but I think us as readers are hoping to get all of it from his point of view every time they are together, remembering what the first book has then to re read it from his POV.

I do have to say that yes even though I had a few moments of being disappointed, I absolutely fell more in love with Trav! There is not a huge amount back story for Trav, I kind of wanted a little more interaction between him and his brothers and dad. There were quite a few moments that had me crying and my husband was laughing at me telling me I am ridiculous  🙂 I lost it when I got to the Thanksgiving  part. I mean it made me cry in BD but reading it again and in his POV oh my goodness did I lose it, I tried hard to not full on cry but the tears were falling. I may have had moments I felt like this one was lacking but then I would be reminded about the parts that got to me in the first book that drew me in all over again! Along with getting more of Travis so who can go wrong with that?

There is not much of a point to go over all the stuff that is obviously in the first book since this is the same book but it is fun to see it from the other side, how HE saw Abby. There were moments that I really didn’t like her, pretty much the same moments from the first book that I didn’t care for her. We did get to see a little more of the Maddox brothers but still not as much as I would have liked.

Shep, I just loved him! I hope he gets a book also. From what I have read Jamie is going to be doing a book for the brothers. The epilogue was good! I have to say that I was pulled right back in. I wanted to know more and am excited to get more! I am not sure if she will be writing more about Trav and Abby but we do get to see which one of the brothers will be up next.  All in all if you liked Beautiful Disaster you will enjoy Waking Disaster! Just know that there are parts that are left out from the first book so if you are expecting it to have ALL of the parts just know it wont. 😦 but over all a good read!

Came across on an interview with Trav and Jamie that this is the song that Trav and Abby danced to on her birthday.
