Review

So I had heard over and over that this one will leave you upset and on this huge emotional cliffhanger. I will say that I was drawn into it and wanted to know what was going on. I wanted to figure out why both Charlie and Silas are both without any memory of anything in their past. Why is it just the two of them? Why did it happen? What is going on?

That being said I did enjoy the book. I love everything by Colleen Hoover. I can say it is pretty easy to tell that two different people wrote the book, but I think that adds to it. You can tell one person is writing for Silas and one is writing for Charlie. It makes it feel more real I think. I definitely didn’t care much for Charlie and when I found out that Colleen wrote Silas’ part I laughed because I could tell that it was her writing style. Tarryn is a little more closed off and likes to be more secretive in her writing and you can feel it in the reading of Charlies side. Over all I liked that two people wrote.

Now…I am all about cliffhangers when there is going to be another book soon, and this one is not too far out. So when it came to the cliffhanger that everyone was talking about it wasn’t that bad really. It was more interesting I thought. It didn’t leave me screaming WHAT THE HELL. So I take that for something, BUT I knew it was coming so that might be part of the reason.

I am not 100% sure as to why they decided to pull this book from preorder and make it a series on amazon it says it is about 140 pages (158 paperback). That is a short story, not a novel. I feel like they could have just made it a novel and many would have been much happier. I am not a fan of short books in a series. So that is what I was not a big fan of. It should be advertised as a short story “series”.

I have an idea of who knows what’s going on, the fact that when I saw a post on fb about who the authors pictured as the characters there was one person on there that we only saw twice in the book. Why would they need an image for a person who was not prominent in the book? Because there is more to her and she knows more…I am just sure of it, because there were people that were in the book more often and they didn’t pick people they would cast for them. (hmm……)

So all I can do now is move on and find something else to read, I will come back to this storyline when the next book comes out. I just hope that it isn’t going to be drug out into like 3 or 4 books. As much as I absolutely LOVE Colleen Hoover I am not a fan of having to wait months to read a short story to be left wondering okay now what the hell is supposed to happen? lol

BUT that is what you can do when you are Colleen Hoover. 😉 keep people on pins and needles. Draw them in and just give out a little at a time. That is called torture. In the mean time I will be waiting for her next book to come out (Confess). Since that is not far away.

Overall this is a good read, it is witty, and suspenseful because you are wondering what the heck is happening and why. It is two high school kids that are left wondering who they are and why they can’t remember anything. If you want something that is short and leaves you wondering (while you wait for the next one to come out) this is a must read.

10 synopsis

When Sara McMillan finds a stack of journals in a storage unit, she’s shocked and enthralled by the erotic life the writer led. Unable to stop reading, she vicariously lives out dark fantasies through Rebecca, the writer—until the terrifying final entry.

Certain something sinister has happened, Sara sets out to discover the facts, immersing herself in Rebecca’s life. Soon she’s working at the art gallery Rebecca worked at and meeting Rebecca’s friends. Finding herself drawn to two dangerously sexy men, the manager of the gallery and a famed artist, Sara realizes she’s going down the same path Rebecca took. But with the promise of her dark needs being met by a man with confident good looks and a desire for control, she’s not sure anything else matters. Just the burn for more.

Review

Well I have to say that it did pull me in and I was intrigued. I wanted to know more. I wanted to find out what happened to Rebecca. I wanted to go on this little adventure with Sara. I instantly wanted to know what happened, what was going on and where things were going to go. I couldn’t get through this book fast enough I wanted answers just like she did.

I will say that she did do things I would probably never do. Like go get a job at a place she worked. I mean it is what Sara always wanted to do. Work with art, but at the same time I had instantly thought she was going to lose herself in the mix of it all and forget why she was there.

I was so pulled into the story because well I didn’t read the synopsis so I honestly wasnt sure what to expect but I was very happy to say that I have not read a book like this one and it was nice to find something that had a different twist to it. I wanted to know more about these journals also because they are so ‘taboo’ I am sure for anyone who has not read what is hot in today’s market. 😉

I do have a negative and for me it was mostly because I wanted more BDSM I wanted it because that is what I had assumed it was about. I thought that it was in there more than it was. I was told by a friend who read them already that the lost journals novellas will give that. So I need to started on them soon. I was hoping that Sara was going to maybe try her hand at being a submissive because well I could tell it is in her. I wanted a little more than what was put in from her.

That ending though. I was left wondering what is going to happen. I couldn’t wait to get started on the next one and luckily, for me I don’t have to wait for the next one to come out since it already is! 🙂 One of the things that I love about waiting. I can go right through, and not have to wait for the next one to come out.

If you are going to read this series thinking it is going to be full of BDSM you will be disappointed it does have some in there but it doesn’t go into it a lot. For me though the suspense made up for that. The desire to get answers to this mystery over took my desire for a sex filled book. I enjoyed it very much!

Review

I got a message from the author asking if I would like to read and review their book. I read the synopsis and said sure. I will admit though I was not going into this positive that I would like it. Because if you have read my review on another love triangle you know that I am kind of not feeling them. BUT that being said I did enjoy this one more than I thought I would. There is so much that I didn’t honestly know what was going to happen.

Okay so, the beginning…that completely threw me. I was completely lost for a minute. I have come to understand that I do not usually care for prologues. Some give away too much, some are just pointless, some like this one confuse the hell out of me. I understand that sometimes I am slow. 🙂 The prologue was in the point of view of a guy. SO when I got to the first chapter I thought that was the point of view I was reading from. Then I figured out that I was wrong, so I went back and started it again. I will say that both men, Kevin and Roman were infuriating! I couldn’t understand what she found attractive in either one of them. Instantly I wanted to run from Roman, and I couldn’t understand what she saw in him, but there is something about a man who carries himself in such a way that you know he is confident. Then you have Kevin, he was fun, even sweet at times. Others, well he was just an ass. So when you have a girl who is so broken and lost because she lost the one man she loved and adored (her father). I can see how being sucked in by either one of these two can happen. They both give something to her that make her feel.

I have to say that there were so many things that Roman did that screamed RED FLAG. I just wanted to scream at her to run and run fast! But he made her feel something, something that she wanted and only he seemed to provide. Kevin was being weird with her, he wasn’t stepping up at first, otherwise I am sure she would have been with him… RIGHT????? Who knows. I just know that between the two of them I was so upset and did have to put the book down at some points because I wanted to just grab her and shake her and ask… “What is wrong with you? How did you NOT see that coming?”

I don’t want to give away too much but let’s just say that I was getting to the point where I was not looking forward to what was going to come because I thought I had an idea where it was going, then…BAM. Something I had no idea was coming. Something that had me questioning how I didn’t see it. I was just at a loss and left wanting to know what the hell “that” was all about.

I will read what’s next because I just have to know what the hell is going to happen. I need to know more about both Roman and Kevin. Why some things were done and not done.

10 synopsis

Hope Walker can’t believe it when she finds Daniel, her first love, working at the Contego Agency. For both Daniel and Hope the old memories and emotions come rushing back, and together they will have to fight to stay alive long enough to give their love a second chance.

Review

So I have come to the understanding that books by Ann will more than likely be some of the best ones! I enjoyed this one for so many reasons! BUT let me start by saying jarheads have a special place in my heart and I have to say that she does such an awesome job portraying their wit, and just smack talking! Having been married to a Marine I know first hand how they can be when they are together! I can honestly say that this was another good one! Don’t get me wrong she has done a great job of adding in some good steam but at the same time that isn’t what this book is all about. There is a good mix of suspense as well as heartache.

I love that you are able to get a connection to almost everyone instantly! Before we get to even meet Hope I already loved all the guys Daniel was with at the bar at the beginning. I found myself reading and not wanting to put it down. I just wanted more, and for me that means something because I have read other books that have to do with Marines and it turns me off because I don’t feel like they are portrayed in the way I know them to be. It is honestly hard for me to love a book that doesn’t do them justice. Yes they are awesome guys who defend our country and work their asses off, their families sit at home worry and pray that they are safe any time they are away. So I know all that and how it works BUT what people have a hard time getting across…That would be the camaraderie, how they are when they are all together!

As I read I had many different emotions. I laughed more times than not when the guys were together. I hurt and even teared up at a few points. But for me I think what I enjoyed was the suspense of the storyline. I couldn’t imagine having to be living in fear that something horrible would or could happen because of trying to do something good for another person.

There is so much to love about this book.  The only thing that I wish we got more of was the issue as to why they had their “falling out”. It is brought up and we get the gist of it all but I kind of wish we would have gotten more of Hope’s dad. Him and Daniel having a face to face moment maybe. To be honest I had thought that some of the reason that her dad didn’t like him was because he wasn’t African-American. But that wasn’t it at all.

I know some people enjoy reading books that have interracial couples, but for me this was like any other book as far as race goes. It wasn’t an issue, I forgot at times that she was African-American and he wasn’t, until there would be an explanation on how her body looked or whatnot. I kind of wish there was something a little more on that aspect. I know I love reading about a Latina heroine because of language used or mannerisms that just remind me of things I did growing up or things my mom did. So that would be the one and only thing that I can think of that I wish we would have gotten just a little piece of. I mean I would say I am well versed and can carry myself as a lady if need be but piss me off and you can watch the ghetto in me come out. 🙂 In this story there was a moment that I thought for sure she is going to lose it and let that inner “bitch” out. But she really didn’t. (not when I thought for sure she would) And it may be because she was raised better than that 😉 but I think we all have it in us.

Overall it was a great start to what I am sure will be a good series. I am looking forward to getting more of these guys!

10 synopsis

Keep your friends close and your enemies closer…preferably in bed. That’s always been Kingsley Edge’s strategy with his associate, the notorious New York dominatrix Nora Sutherlin. But with Nora away in Kentucky, now it’s Kingsley’s chance to take her place at the feet of the only man he’s ever wanted — Søren, Nora’s on-again, off-again lover — until a new threat from an old enemy forces him to confront his past.

Wes Railey is still the object of Nora’s tamest yet most maddening fantasies, and the one man she can’t forget. He’s young. He’s wonderful. He’s also thoroughbred royalty and she’s in “his” world now. But Nora is no simpering Southern belle, and her dream of fitting into Wesley’s world is perpetually at odds with her dear Søren’s relentlessly seductive pull.

Two worlds of wealth and passion call to her and whichever one Nora chooses, it will be the hardest decision she will ever have to make… unless someone makes it for her.

Review

YAY!
Okay I was super excited when she went to go and stay with Wes. I have to say that yes I was surprised that Soren just let her go. But that man always has an ulterior motive. There is a reason for everything he does. That is something that you find out in book one. He isn’t there in book 1 a lot but enough to know that he is a very powerful man who usually has the last say in things.

I was so happy at the beginning and so happy to see how things turn out with Nora and Wes. I wanted to believe that things would be good I wanted to believe that she could go vanilla. As we get to watch and see how that whole relationship works out there is more going on at home with Soren and King. There is stuff going on that they need to work out, they need to find out who is doing things that are not okay with them. I will say I was at a loss and couldn’t put it all together. I am not always one of those people who can guess what will happen in a book, so it made reading this one that much more interesting.

Just when I think I have something figured out, I find out I was wrong. I didn’t have it right. But with this series I have come to learn that you just can’t do that. I never know what will come up. You may have part of something figured out but then you will find out something else that will just throw you completely. I know I was.

I just know that once again I am happy I waited. I am able to jump right into the next book thanks to Netgalley.

I was left wondering what the hell? I had an idea that what does happen, was going to happen but at the same time I honestly didn’t see it coming completely.

We also get to see a sweeter side to Nora. It is always there but we get to see it a little more. In book 1 we see it and then again in this one. Wes just brings that out in her. The smart mouth girl is still there and we get to see her come out when need be. And it is more often than you think. I am not saying that she all of a sudden puts on a sun dress and pearls and has a southern drawl but she is just softer when it comes to Wes.

We also get more info on Soren and King. And have to say it is all starting to make more sense now. I get why King is who he is. I can’t wait to get more.

But that ending….

Oh sweet cliffhanger!!

Blurb:

For Prime-Werewolf Ember Stilwell, life has been far from normal. Decades ago, a vengeful Witch cursed her Pack, leaving the women of her line incapable of feeling love. When an organized group of immortal killers begin to stalk and capture wolves from her pack, she sets out on a path fraught with danger. Just when it seems the world as she knows it will be changed forever, she meets Collin, an Alpha Werewolf with a body built for sin. As her heart begins to heal, she comes to find that the demons of her past are not nearly as dangerous as the nightmares she will be forced to face in her future. Can finding her true love conquer all? Or will the ability to feel for the first time be overshadowed by losing everything else she holds dear?

My Thoughts:

So I have not read a paranormal book in a while so when I got an email from the author asking if I would read her book and do an honest review I was flattered as well as excited because well I did miss paranormal and just have been putting it off. After she sent me the book and I got into reading it I will have to say that this book reminded me as to why it was that I loved paranormal to begin with. Action right from the get go. I have read some books where there is a mix of vampires and werewolves, witches and nymphs but this was the first that I had read that had a mix a ‘hybrid’. I was sucked in right from the get go and couldn’t put it down I wanted to know more and more and more. I had just forgotten how good paranormal was, and Gena Lutz writes it well!! I am so glad that she got a hold of me to read this because I loved it! I will recommend it to my friends who like paranormal books as well.

There were so many twists and turns and so much action as well as hotness and well it just had everything! I absolutely love Ember and her best friend Harper they crack me up when they are together. There is just the perfect mix of romance, love, fighting and action, humor, and suspense. I don’t want to give away too much about the book so doing this review is a little on the harder side because my favorite parts that I want to talk about would give away something. 😦

Instantly I loved Collin I mean who wouldn’t? he is hot and ALL alpha! and then Nathan.. he is just the sweetest! but when you get the ‘three stooges’ together (Ember, Harper & Nathan) you will laugh from time to time that is for sure! Harper is the no bs kind of girl and tells it like it is which always makes for fun times! 🙂

If you are looking for a great paranormal to read then this is it! I am looking forward to the second book in the series! I loved the ending but was left wondering about a few things and was so happy to find out that there will be more! There is enough in here to satisfy anyone who enjoys paranormal without being to cheesy that is honestly what I get worried about when reading a new paranormal novel!

So to sum up:

  • Great action
  • Great love/romance
  • Good steam
  • Will make you giggle
  • Will pull your heart strings (for me it did when we got to know Dane)
  • Good suspense (kept me in suspenders)
  • Twists and turns
  • Non cheesy
